This Sucks

I dont mean to sound like the dumn southern vet that i am. But i dont want people in my **** or telling me i cant carry, ride without a helmet, and or smoke a cigar.

I pay my taxes...dont indulge in drugs or alcohol...carry insurance. ..and show up to work every day. Raised two kids who are in college. And working towards a PHD.

But i have to many laws and regulations telling me how to live and what's good for me.

I agree...dress for the slide and not the ride...yes its dangerous...yes i drive as fast as i can gey away with...but **** after 40 years of riding...i just dont know...this **** is dangerous...

Actually, both of our cars connect with our iPhones when we start them.

We can answer calls by pushing one button on the steering wheel, and "talking to the car."

We can make calls by pushing the same button, and telling the car who we want to call.

In both instances, we never have to take our eyes off the road.

That said, I probably don't receive or make more than 2-3 calls a week while driving, and I would never either text or look at a text while driving.

We have similar capabilities with the bluetooth enabled wireless intercom systems we have in our MC helmets, both to make/take calls, and listen to music.

I've never set that up, as it seems both too much "hands on," and distracting.
 
I use a variation of that line all the time and it works!!!!
If I'm in a bar and a woman is showing a bit of interest I say,"You remind me of my little toe." If she asks why I say," because I banged it on my coffe table last night". Works every time.
On a more serious note: It is illegal in Ontario to even touch a cellphone whilst driving. A woman had her phone on the seat next to her and when she braked hard at a red light it fell on the floor. She picked it up and put it back on the seat. A cop spotted this and charged her. It stood up in court and the precedent has been set. In spite of this idiots still text and call all the time whilst driving. I notice it in traffic. Someone is driving fast and cutting through traffic and then suddenly they are driving slow and holding up traffic. If you watch them they are driving while their head bobs up and down as they look at the phone!!!!

If you have started riding the speed limit including the recommended speed in the curves, then I might consider your opinion on safety. Until then all that you are preaching is kind of hypocritical my friend.
 
I bought a 2015 F-150 (sure it's another Art dislikes ) ,2 things that were important to me was it is comfortable for a large man,2 I don't have to worry about my phone,it hooks up to the system in the truck,I can press a button on my steering wheel and talk to the system to tell it what to do,call people, respond to texts etc. I don't have to touch my phone at all. So technology is trying to catch up to reduce the issues.
I still won't answer phone calls on my headset on the bike,not for the reason of being unsafe,the time on my bike belongs to me and me only,everyone who works with me understands this,and there is no issue when I don't answer the phone,and I call them back when I have stopped riding.

Am I going to kill anyone due to lack of appropriate attention or focus (other than myself)?
Am I riding through intersections with head up ass?
Pretty huge difference in hooning the twisties versus head in ass with traffic, me thinks.
You are technically correct, but I just do not agree this compared with cell phone texting or usage.
 
I cannot understand the will of the people on here to give up freedoms that were fought to obtain. Some of you think helmet laws are a good thing. If someone crashes without a helmet it can have tragic consequences, but that person made the decision. Not the government making it for him. There are already laws that a person is to have insurance. (I personally disagree with)
No cell use in vehicles? Really? What about people whose job is dependent on phone calls. The phone is not the distraction during a conversation. The act of conversing causes distraction. By this logic shouldn't all talking be disallowed. No phones, radios (police, fire etc.) Or even passengers should be allowed. There is a point of ridiculousness in attempting to keep everyone completely safe. If you are so worried about your safety stay off motorcycles.
I personally think the government has too big a role in our lives as it is and do not wish to give them any more power. I have a Huge problem with everyone willing to give up freedoms that were so hard won.
