The Skinny on the coolant system

From what I have read and been told by the Professional, the R3 needs a silica free antifreeze.
Water Wetter (3 cap fulls) with distilled water @ 25% antifreeze.

The question I have is if you live in a southern area where freezing temps are rare can you run without any antifreeze?

Some recommend using Justice Brothers Cooling System Protector as a cooling system lubricant.

The first consideration is the Alloy components if you don't use a coolant with a Alloy anti corrosion inhibitor you'll be in trouble so water is a no no as is antifreeze without the inhibitor.

One of the best I am told is genuine Toyota coolant, apparently it has a high rated anti corrossion inhibitor especially for alloy motors..

From memory water wetter is a chemical agent that draws water like sylica gel the chrystals they use in saches in packaging, I havent seen it offered in Oz as a coolant advantage but I guess it works by making the coolant stick to the metal surfaces and stops hotspots.. when I change mine I think its recommended every 2 years, I will opt for the expensive toyota pre mixed coolant.

I've run the factory coolant, straight distilled water with water wetter, and Engine Ice. Didn't really notice any difference in operating temps (via Scangauge) between the three. Currently running Engine Ice as that's what the dealer recommended for our desert temps.

From memory water wetter is a chemical agent that draws water like sylica gel the chrystals they use in saches in packaging, I havent seen it offered in Oz as a coolant advantage but I guess it works by making the coolant stick to the metal surfaces and stops hotspots.. when I change mine I think its recommended every 2 years, I will opt for the expensive toyota pre mixed coolant.

What do you do in the winter months or is the Season Temp warm?

I dropped my default fan temp setting to 100 degs thru' TuneECU I also found that the fan air doesn't burn my legs so much at red light stops.

if its cooling system lube you refere too, I wouldn't worry too much as the liquid is the lube and bearings are pre packed, although excessive heat will affect the grease pack..
