That moment people realize they dun screwed with the wrong bike!

Just coming back from a great commute... I met a GSXR1000 K1 on the road ... current state of my R3 is about 160rwhp, bags and medium size windshield.
Happy to report he could not get rid of me, in fact I was able to follow him very closely and keep the same distance at all times (which actually required power superiority to close the gap each time it got bigger). I went deep into 4th to stick with him without any problem. Too many cages around to try and overtake him, though. He finally backed out at a traffic light and did not drag race me from a stop.

Man it's cool when it happens, but extremely rarely do i get challenged to a duel straight up.

the only things to have done that were a Lancer Evo VIII FQ300, Glanza V Turbo (lol) and a 2006 M6.
they were just into their machines and wanted to play.

on the other hand, there is no shortage of boys in usually much lesser machines who want to (what i call) 'dickhead' race.

by that i mean do sneaky or passive aggressive things like;
> try to stay on your tail in traffic, twisties etc but not overtake - because the usual routine is they fall behind and then when you run into traffic or a light they come storming up your tail real quick like they're just as fast as you
> try to overtake you as you cruise at 80 in a 60 zone (like you're holding them back or something..)
> speed up as you go to overtake
> sit calmly and distantly behind you like they're just cruising, then when you get close to a junction they speed up as you cruise along, overtake you and then turn off real quick so you can't follow and have a proper race where you aren't snuck up on again
> etc

also, this happens when out on the Busa too, for example the other day a 2016 Tiger 800 buzzed me.....
so a LOT of people really have no idea what they dun screwin with :D

As the world around me started to resemble the warp drive scenes from Star Wars or Star Trek, I realized that Chevy V8 couldn't keep up.

Good Lord, it's a great feeling to beat a GSXR, but it must be a real blast to leave a Boss Hoss behind. Congrats, you conquered the king! Too bad we don't have these things around in numbers here in Europe. I probably won't have a chance to try my luck on them any time soon.

Just been reading this thread and even tho its a couple of months old now it brings back a smile and memories.
Did a ride a few weeks ago with a buddy. On the last leg home i wanted to screw the throttle to see how quick it was having never really been there. At the end of the straight i was a tad under 220 kph and buttoned off, my cobber arrived soon after on his Storm and we had a brief chat as we idled along...then a plain car policeman went past going the other way!! Talk about lucky!...Here in NZ you will loose your bike and your licence if caught over 140kph. ...That's the last time for me..its not worth losing everything i have put into her to loose it for that....(he said wisely!)

D@mn, I would loose my bike every single time I ride in NZ. It's a shame, talking about free countries...
On the other hand, here in Europe a new Roadster with shield and bags is USD 30K today, because of the taxes. So I guess every place has it's own problems!

Tis a shame cos its very easy to get to 140kph isnt it?..
My bike when i bought it new in Dec 2016, was $NZ28.500. Since then i have added, at a guess, maybe 5 or 6 grands worth of bits so dont want to see it getting loaded onto a government trailer to go who knows where!..That would really get me pissed!

I can sort of relate to the losing the bike thing, when I was in Georgia the local commanding general established a policy that was incredibly unforgiving for speeding.

1 Speeding Ticket = loss of motorcycle license for a year
1 Egregious speeding ticket (20mph over or greater) = career done, general letter of reprimand in your record, bye bye retirement.

As a result, it became unspoken agreement when riding with others, that if you got hit by a radar gun or a copper put up his lights after you'd just been hauling ass the immediate action wasn't to pull over, it was

RUN

Draconian measures don't often have the desired results, and if 140kh were the "you're ****ed" speed, my first reaction would be to run as well.

That georgia condition, is why I quite riding for about a year after I got promoted, just wasn't worth getting in trouble.

Hey Gang,

Hope all of you had a glorious winter! Not too bad here in the burbs of Chicago, matter of fact our winter barely had any snow at all! Plenty of rain/cold the last 2 months though...

I finally was able to take my 16 roadster out this past weekend. It was beautiful, 70 and sunny.

I was just enjoying the roads when I see in my mirror a bunch of bikes approaching from behind. We are on a 3 lane highway, plenty of room, no traffic...

All of a sudden 5 bikes buzz past me kind of close, I looked at each bike for a split second, 2 Harley sportster 1200's, a gsxr 600, gsxr 750 and an extended hayabusa.

Either way, I thought to myself WTF, you had all this space and you buzz me??? Do you not realize you are messing with 2300cc's?? lol.

As luck would have it I caught the light with them moments later. They literally took all 3 lanes up. The 2 Harleys in the middle lane, 600/750 in the right lane and the extended busa parked in the middle on the left lane (which means I could not get in anywhere). Now I was getting a lil upset...ha.

I positioned myself behind the busa, knowing that this is the only bike that I will be following in this race. ha.

Light turns green and sure enough EVERYONE is taking off like Usain Bolt in the Olympics! I immediately pull the hammer down and literally smoke the rear tire as I fly past the 2 Harleys! I'm pulling on the 600 very easily as well and the 750 was with me up to about 50mph...the guy on the busa notices that i'm not fading away like the other jamokes and decides to give it a full go...guess what, TOO LATE...lol. around 75-80mph I fly past (and buzz him kinda close as he just did me), he attempts to recover but it's too late...i'm up to about 120mph and he is definitely gaining but the light in front of us turns red!

As I prepared for round 2 I think the grin inside my helmet was so big, that my cheekpads were stretched! haha. The guy on the busa was extremely pissed and the other 4 bikes were all giving me the thumbs up and staring at the engine etc...they were definitely trying to figure out what the hell just happened...

Light turns green AND THIS TIME everybody is much more serious...but this time I also had a front row spot and didn't have to worry about running anybody over. haha. I was ahead of everyone including the busa up to around 80mph but then the busa overcame me...it wasn't a bad loss (I think the busa rider couldn't ride the bike to it's potential). I stopped around 120mph again and the busa was about a bus length ahead of me. The others were distant memories though and with the exception of the busa all gave me a honk and thumbs up when I turned off moments later to get my starbucks. haha.

I don't think I'll ever sell this bike...what a blast!

A fantastic read. Thanks

To me it is certainly fun messing with the sport bikes on the straights but it is even more fun in the tight twisties, especially when a steep incline is involved. While they are desperately shifting to try to maintain the highest rpm's in order to achieve sufficient torque I am able to power through sometimes in one gear while they need two or three gears. As an example on a ride with maybe 30 bikes, mostly Harleys, along with a mix of sport bikes and approaching a very twisty, very steep 40 mile stretch the ride leader said that if the sport bikes wanted to go on ahead we could meet at a predetermined spot a bit later. Well I didnt figure to let the sport bikes have all the fun (no harley's even tried) so myself and three sport bikes took off. I started at the rear of our little four bike queue thinking i did not wqnt to hoid them up. Pretty soon I realized that not only could I keep up I could pass at least the slowest of them. Keep in mind there are no passing lanes on this ride so I had to wait to make my move. After passing the first guy I made aim at the next one and got past him as well. The first guy had too big a lead by that time and I didnt catch him by the time we reached the pre-determined rendezvous spot so I have no idea if I could have passed him as well (a ten year vet motorcycle cop btw). Sorry to be so long winded but **** that was a fun ride.
