Went and had another ride on the new 1200 Explorer again today . Second time I've been out on one .. it's a really awesome motorcycle to ride. Butt ugly but just changing a few little bits and powdercoating a few others makes it .. a bit less butt ugly. I'm really tempted to get one , would mean getting rid of my R3 and S3 though.

Where did you do the test ride? Does it have a height adjustable seat? Should be a very easy bike to ride.

Team Moto down at Springwood .. let me piss-off on my own so took it for a decent ride. Seat height can be lowered (860 -840mm) but you get less foam .. I was fine on it at stock seat height. It's a really comfortable riding position .. I reckon you could do really big miles on it in a day. Good for those bumpy and twisty back roads .. where you are unlikely to encounter the cops .. big plus I reckon.

I've been eying off a Tiger 800 for ages; would love one as a second (or 3rd) bike. Guess I could go for the 1200 if I couldn't keep the Rocket as well. Looks 1000 times better than any of it's competitors. I hear that engine is something else.

I like it! Always liked the idea of having something that you can take off the road if need be, like avoiding flashing lights, etc. etc. BUT, I'm at 3 bikes now, a 4th would be crazy. Guess I need to start selling something.

Would love to have the Explorer but then you'd have to start wearing those funky looking duckbill helmets, hard boots, etc....

As opposed to goofy beanie helmets, fingerless gloves, assless chaps, etc...

Of course none of that applies to you TC, but ADV riders are hardly unique when it comes to silly looking attire. I had a BMW GS and still regret selling it, great all around bike. If you like the Explorer, pull the trigger. Don't wait for the day when you say, I wish I'd have gotten one of those...

oh, it was all said in jest... I'd love to have an ADV bike AND be in shape enough to use it properly, funky looking helmets and all. My holdbacks are my old football knees, big ass and beer belly. I dream of riding an ADV bike across Canada and up to Deadhorse, Alaska but I don't think my body can take it anymore.
