Got one that came with my 07 Classic (the cream and blue, not silver and blue model). Used it for a while but took it off. No scratches, but I did keep wiping off any dust that got under it. The pouch was useful for earplug storage, but not much else!
It's sitting in my shed... a long way from Oz.

Mustang Seats makes a few styles (with or without studs). They also have fender bibs (for people rocking a solo seat) for the Touring.
 
Don't Bagster do a tank bra for the R3? If so, I'd suggest one. I have had them on four bikes and they have never resulted in damage to the tank. Plus they can take a tank bag.
