It's been 11 years since I've bought a new bike but after buying a new R3 roadster a month ago I just cleared 500 mi. and brought it in for the first service, (oil, filter, and general check up) I thought it would have been a free service, but I was told it would cost about $190. How many of you out there ran into the same thing or am I expecting too much from a Triumph dealer ? I understand oil isn't cheap but I think if I owned a dealership I would cover the first service just for good customer relations and publicity, they'll be more likely to come back for more service.

What's your opinion.

Jeff

Yes they should, but you are expecting too much.
Welcome by the way. You're gonna love you Rocket but you'll soon learn what you can expect from your dealer, what you can believe and what is utter bull sh1t. Some are excellent while others have no regard for decency. Don't be afraid to ask questions here or to check to get a second opinion.

Welcome to the site!

And if you think the 500 mile check is bad.... just wait for the 10,000 mile... Make sure you wear a cup that day cause it is gonna hurt.

I called my dealer before hand and changed my own oil which at $17 per quart (their price) plus filter and labor I saved over $100 by doing it myself...

Honda, Harley, Triumph... Dealers are all the same.

You're lucky they didn't charge you for the air in the tires but better check your bill just in case.

As my dad says.... "Life in a big city".

you think thats bad I have had mine 2 weeks as of today a little over 1450 miles on it when I took it in it was 393.83 for the first service I asked for lube the guy said ya we did that I said no it's for me he did not seem to like that comment oh well

That is just wrong...

Like I said I called and asked before I took mine in. The service manager told me I could save money changing my own oil, which was good of him. My cost at the dealer was under $100 for everything else,,,,,, what ever that was that they did for the first check.

I took my touring in for it's 500 mile service and got a bill for 328.00 and it came out with a anti-freeze leak! Anyway I ended up fixing it myself, dealer B.S. I buy my oil from auto zone for $9.95a quart and wix filter for 5 bucks, (castrol 4t racing 10x40 syn) I do the services myself for around 65.00 then I know it's right. Talked to another triumph dealer about the 10k service and they quoted me 495.00 with an oil change not bad,he said if the valves don' t need adjustment just change the oil. Will see.........sandman:D
