If you’re getting 23% at 300lbs, I would expect the rear spring would be too heavy for people under 200lbs.
I have my Rocket's preload up to almost max for what the owner's manual says is for 2 up riding. The spring is way too limp with no preload on it for my weight. I have an Ohlins TR-729 on my Bobber with a spring rated for my weight and I have a bunch of preload on that unit to get the sag to minimum so I get maximum shock travel out of the shock before bottoming. It looks like this:

The more load you put in the seat the more preload you have to add so the shock works properly. The OEM shock on my Bobber was for a human about 150 to 170 pounds and had no preload adjustability. It bottomed out over the smallest bumps sending spine jarring jolts with eye watering results before I switched it out. I also had to replace the fork springs with heavier springs and added emulators to the forks for compression and rebound adjustability just so the bike was rideable for more than 10 minutes pain free. Now it's an all day ride no problem.

I tried to contact EMC at both the French site and the US site. No response from either. They don't seem to interested in selling their product
Yeah, it's been a week since I created an account and emailed EMC- No response. Fusk 'em! If they can't figure out how to use Email (in the year 2025) and basic customer service I'm not going to trust them to know how to do anything more technical than that.

Fortunately, there IS more than "one solution." I'll gladly pay more for the Wilbers, thank you.

Have you seen them anywhere besides EPM? they have 10% off now, So $142, but just wondering if they're an exclusive dealer in the US? I'm wondering if there's tarrifs on top of their price? Or its already built in?.....Would you "spring" for the hydraulic pre load adjuster? ha....Edit: Mr. AI says the tarrifs are already built in to their prices. 25%.

The Wilbers USA site

leads you to this page with those discounts already showing. Either way, if ordering from a US dealer that should include the big beautiful tariffs.

I'm not sure which model I would choose, yet. Let me know your thoughts and others here...

I would probably get the competition 643 QS. Try to hedge my bets about how much improvement over stock there will be. Hate to spend $800 and not see an improvement. Not sure if the hydraulic pre load is worth $250 though. I guess it would depend how easy it will be to get the hook spanner wrench in there. I probably wouldn't be changing it all that often.

I rarely ride two up, but do sometimes haul camping gear. Still, I'd probably not change it often enough either to warrant bumping up to the most expensive units

That’s what I went with from EPM. Their factory set up was almost perfect. Sag, rebound, comp were spot on. I never tried to get a spanner on it, but it looks very doable. The adjustment screws are very easy to get to if you want to change for heavy baggage or riding two up. The only thing I would change is to move the oil reservoir up a couple of degrees. It is very close to touching the mud guard but doesn’t. I really like the shock and the difference it made. Now I’m thinking about front fork cartridges for the front. The front never bothered me like the rear did, but with the difference that changing out the rear made for the ride makes me think, hmm… 😁 🤓

How about these? https://www.nitron.co.uk/buy-online...-/triumph-rocket-3--20-24--ntr-race-pro-shock I'm Leary of anything that says "race" that it may be a harsh ride. I need '59 Caddy ride
Thanks for sharing that. An online search shows that people like Nitron, in general. If you pretend to purchase from their UK store it says to go here to buy in US. They're $1200

I do want a stiffer performance ride at the expense of some comfort, but I'm more set and forget when it comes to suspension, so not sure i need all the bells and whistles 🤷🏼‍♂️

One thing I was told was to stay away from "emulsion shocks" like this one...

I like hitting the Twisties when I can, but the rocket scrapes so fast that I've been trying to train myself to leave the Twisties for the KTMs, I keep telling myself "its a cruiser, just cruise" ha ha
