ok, just wondering about "modding: the stock pipes as i dont have the money for the real ones at the moment...

i have heard mixed response, and a few of the blokes i ride with rekon they have heard one with drilled out pipes and it sounded crap. is it because they only drilled the end caps? and not throught the second baffle? or is it pure rocket jelousy? i know it will obviously make the bike louder, but good loud or ****e loud? and will it void warrenty and require a tune etc? any advice or opinion will be greatly appreciated! thanx fellow rocketeers! now i just have to get me bike back.... (read the "missfiring?" section)

stay upright all...

I drilled 4 egual holes around the stock opening, through 2 plates ( iIguess theres a third anyway) it's not loud but it breathes a little better I think.

the bike sounds better than stock, but it was a temporary thing until I could get some different pipes.

I would love to hear how it sounds with a cat bypass ( I have an empty cat box now)

I'm upgrading to Jardines eventually anyway, I just wanted to open it up some more at the time.

pipes

I drilled 5 * 3/8 holes thru the two rear plates, sounds a bit louder but not much. no mod to tune is needed. I really don't think it was worth the effort.

if you can get a cat-delete pipe its worth it , bit more noise and power ,
if you mod your pipes theres only a slight increse in noise , if you cut them in half and leave them open they will be quite loud,
I drilled the core out then put a 1 1/4 inch bafel tube back in .
the origanal exausts have a verry small tube for the exit , but 1 1/4 entrance so I tried to mach this, I didnt want a verry loud bike that you need ear plugs to ride with . I like the sound and noise level now.
you will need to get the corect tune from you dealer to suit , unless you have tune boy or simular
