A little digging and I came up with these conversion tables. I normally work in mm2 but very rarely AWG. Normal rule of thumb is to go one size bigger than stated. 8 AWG does not appear to be particularly heavy duty but will also depend on the current draw of the starter motor to be fitted - see below:

Would the holes all line up on the 17610 aftermarket starter? Or would it need special fitting? What brand is the best for the $?
