My bike cuts out as soon as i put it in gear, could it be a faulty side stand switch ? I can't think of anything else. Problem is I can't work on it as i don't have an alternative stand. Anyone else experienced this ?

there is a plug a couple of inches from the side stand switch, unplug it and bridge out the 2 wires on the loom side, then try the bike again, that will test if its the switch or not.

I'll try that, thanks dave

Chaps, there is no plug on my bike. Got my mechanic coming round on Weds morning to look at the ****ing thing.I'll keep you posted.

The plug is behind the plastic triangular cover, held on with 2 screws, to the rear of the oil tank, by the rear frame, where the aux power socket accessory goes.

Well it's one of the plugs behind there, the 3 pin one with 2 wires going into it (and out)

OK chaps, here's the story.

We took off the triangular cover and found the plug, shorted the loom and it worked.

The cable from the switch was trapped between the frame and an engine bolt, the pressure, over time had caused one of the wires to snap. Switch is fine, a quick bit of re jointing and it's all good now.

Thanks for all your suggestions.
