Spluttering Rocket

As my bike is light on the boost department, standard fuel set up is OK. Runs a PC3 with its own MAP/MAF built into it. Boost fuel is taken care of by the PC3 over and above the tuneboy.

Reading between the lines, it may just be as easy to open the gate again so it does bleed some boost then the original unit would be fine. Having said this, going back is not really an option and given the fact I cant get a Triump Map sensor in Aust, (took me 4 weeks ex UK for the one I just fitted) might as well play with the 2bar unit and see how it pans out.

Yep electric boost guage, Tuneboy software, PC3 with map sensor to supply on boost fuel. I could try turning it down a bit but that would be no fun. With the 2 bar MAP I think its more a case of the sensor pad being able to handle positive pressure and provide constant signals. With the standard one it seems once you have upset it with boost it goes out to lunch end of story. I pruchased a 2 bar unit yesterday and will do some wiring etc and give it a go.
Do you have any input into the FL Switch settings in Tueboy. How are the values arrived at ?

Being an Aussie, the Jaycar kit should be easily attainable. I'm certainly no geek when it comes to assembly so will stay away and if it does come to this well then yes I would lower the boost and be happy. Lets face it around 200hp at the wheel is more than enough for most. Now turing a bike down to 270hp is just down right crazy. No wonder clutches fly apart......

An old post I know but since I just joined the forum (in a n effort to find resolution to the identical fault) I thought I would ask if a suitable solution to this problem has been found?

It has become apparant that this surging and "back-firing" while under load is a problem which has plagued many Rockets from '04 to present. Admittedly many owners have never had an issue...take it from one who has been living with this for 3 years ,its no fun at all.

Have had the mapping reset 3 times during the space of 12 months and the dealer just shrugs meakly and takes my money gladly.

You have a turbo charged Rocket with Tuneboy and A PCIII causing fuel mapping problems?

Hi, thanks for the response. My rocket is bog standard apart from the removal of the CAT and left hand exhaust (remaining exhausts are OEM).

I discovered last week that there is in fact a solution to this problem available in the form of a brand new TPS. It seems Triumph (kind of) admitted to a fault with the first generation TPS and have since recalled all dealer stock and have been issuing a second generation (new part number) TPS for over 2years now...here in South Africa they are replacing them at a cost to the owner if the bike is out of warranty which I think is a bit of a cheek but hey, our motto here in good ol' SA is " always carry a tube of lube"; sooner or later someone WILL try to screw you.

So now its off to the dealer with my R1000 (roughly $200) on Sat and I guess I'll post the outcome in a week.
