My dealer told me to use the fuel cut off switch whenever i shut the bike off but then i was reading that it wasnt a good idea. Any thoughts?

As for the turning off directions from your dealer I think he may be a *****head, no such thing as fuel cut off switch.

I've always used the key I maybe wrong but I think that's we have a key, it may hard for your dealer to comprehend but be patient with him he'll get it eventually.

Seriously always used the key got lazy and use the side stand most of the time.

I was told my my dealer not to use the kill switch. I then looked in the owner's manual and it says the same thing - do not use the kill switch. I asked the dealer why and he said that after turning the kill switch on and off 3 times, it resets the data in the ECU that has been acquired via the oxygen sensor. It then takes time to record all that data again. No biggie but may may take awhile to dial itself in again. I guess this feature could be used if the bike is moved to a higher or lower elevation or a new climate, i.e. moving to Vegas from CT, and you want to expediate the ECU's adjusting for the new environment.

I have the same owner's manual (page 40). And I had the same verbal from my dealer.
I guess this has to be close to correct info.

I also think that using the red kill switch, (I have) and forgetting about it in my quest for a pee...Going back to the bike and not getting it to start is puzzling and embarrassing when someone walks over and says nothing, but lightly flips the red to off position and smiles like I am a nimrod.

These red switches; all bikes have it. Anyone had the sad, real opportunity to use it?

I think I will follow with the key after I drop the landing gear also.

I spent the entire weekend trying to find the fuel shut off switch, couldn't find it, now i can't remember how to put the bike together, i'm in trouble

Yes I realize its not called a fuel cut off switch especially since its not a diesel but it does cut the power and the gas. I was just wondering if there was a reason or he was full of crap. Thanks guys.

I vote the second reason, he's FULL of crap...............if thats what you want to call it
