Shifts like a tractor....fixed!

The manual recommends 2-3 mm of slack at the lever. Did you find that 2-3 mm slack at the lever doesn't correspond to sufficient freeplay at the crank?
I didn't bother to check. I had terrible results doing the adjustment per the manual. The key is just a perceptible about of free play at the engine clutch crank. Works like a charm, clutch engagement is perfect and it does leave some free play at the handlebar lever.
