second clutch problem ???

that's good thinking on that external spring Warp, probably pick up a sring at a hardware store huh?

I'm getting a lot of education here Warp, thanks to you ! that's what I need, a better understanding of what's going on in there so I can watch out for it the next time.

Daryl has a good point about the adjustment on an R3 .... if the cable is the slightest bit too snug, the bearing will run constantly and if it wears a wee bit out of balance .... well .... there could be your vibration. I'm always checking to see if the bearing is touching since I like my cables sinched up tight as they will go without causing problems. I hate a sloppy throttle too, but messing with that will cause trouble as well. Might sound a bit weird, but I set my clutch cable with a stethescope ... I listen for the bearing to start spinning, then back it off. (no one ever accused me of being normal :p)

**** Hellfire, you sound like me after this education!!! I didn't realize the clutch was so sensitive in there. I always like my clutch adjusted right, with free play, and haate to get on something that's not adjusted right. With everything considered, would that account for the vibration going away if I pull the clutch lever in just far enough to put a little tension on the lifter rod and shaft??

very informative Warp, I'll keep al of this in mind when we get in there. That lifter shaft wears doesn't it??

Daryl that was RAA wasn't it??? I was there ,

Yes, it was RAA. I was riding up with Boogerdave and another chap (Randy, I think was his name). We got about 50 miles away from my house when the lifter shaft snapped in half. Bummer, but not the end of the world. I towed it to the dealer and that's the first time I layed eyes on my 09 Caspian Blue Tiger 1050 ABS. It was love at first sight. I bought it the next day. All is well that ends well. :)

Just got off the phone with the dealer and he said he thinks there may be a inner clutch plate problem????? I'm not there and can't see exactly what he's talking about but he said he is waiting to here from Triumph to confirm. Soooooooo guess i'll wait somemore.

I talked to the dealer yesterday and they have the Rocket apart and are waiting on parts. First of all after they rode the bike they tore the slip joint apart and lubed it, said it was sticking, called and said they wanted me to ride it and see what I thought, still vibrated till you put a little pressure on the clutch lever, then it went away. I told them to tear the clutch apart and let me know what they find. They checked the springs and said they were good and they are waiting on a new shaft and lifter rod, I thought they had put in the new designed lifter when the clutch was done the last time but from what I understand from what WARP said they didn't come out with that until 09. Anyway, I'm waiting on parts and having MAJOR withdrawl.

Talked to dealer today, s t i l l no parts. I am going F*%#ing nuts waiting, wanna ride my Rocket. Anyway while my bike was there I had them take the Darkside off and put on a MT, Avon, reason is when they drove it they said it was all over the road, they drove it before with CT on and didn't complain so I wanted to be sure there wasn't anything else wrong with the Rock. So when I test drove it with MT on I had to learn all over, BIG DIFFERENCE, felt like I was going to fall over, it did change lanes faster though, so I'm gonna give it a try. Also i purchased some goodie for the Rock when it comes back, progressive 412 shocks, it rode like a buck board with that MT on and Rivco floorboards and relocators for my girlfriend. Can't wait to get it back.
