Found a slick little site that will allow you to optimize your route through a series of waypoints. You can enter up to 15 stops, in random order, and the site will spit out an optimized Google Map with directions. Based on the "Traveling Salesman" algorithm for you engineering/ops research types.
The interface is a little funky but it works. I find that I can use it to sequence the waypoints then I can select them in Garmin Mapsource.
