Rocket 3 classic 2007
Hi everyone. Happy New Year.

Got my 07 rocket classic touring a month ago ... my first cruiser style bike in decades. Sold my ninja1000 last year , wanted to try the adventure bike but broke my shoulder flying off a dune. So as soon as I recovered, got the r3 as a "temporary" bike-itch fixer... and then I end up quite liking it.

So now I need a standard footpeg because the floorboards are just too way upfront, feels weird coming off sporty bikes. Any ideas where I can get used ones? I will in anycase try the classifieds.

Standard foot pegs are also forward. You might wanr to adapt a set of Roadster rails and pegs. I should point out you made a drastic change in sitting styles of bikes you might want to give her some more time on the boards before you change.

Wow, I didnt realise the forum was so active. Thanks for your quick reply and value tip .. Didnt realise standards are upfront pegs too. I take your point about getting used to the new ride style as the more I ride the more I find it less awkward (also I dont get the heel shifter... cuz I have to actually lift my foot to get my heels on the shifter) , which is why I thought of getting a pair of used roadster pegs to try out.. But not to trade just yet.

Welcome from New Jersey USA.
Like warp said, I think you'll grow to like the floor boards and their position!A few guys on here have switched over to floor board because they love the bike but not sporty position. Will cost $$$ to do it the right way.
Good luck and enjoy your new ride!

I have a feeling I will like it too ... initially I bought simple clamp footpegs to clamp to the floorboard rail , rear of the floorboards but doesnt work out cuz the rails are not the same left/right. Its more like a "sometimes I need scenario" when I want to stand up while going over the humps (shocks are quite hard).

Another thing I need to get used to ... I have to plan ahead for fast corners .. Or else it doesnt turn.. A little scary when not used to.

All in all I am loving the ride. Not much places to ride to here, still managed to clock over 2000km in the month just leisure riding solo.

I'd work on the suspension if its stock gets some good shocks and springs on her. Then the next set of tires put the Exedra max on the back and something like a 140 avon on the front. She will be a different bike. Not so lunky :D

Search around this site about tires, quite a few guys have changed tire types, size, and profile to help with handling. The standard size metzler front tire does the bike no justice.

Both of You are right! .. i do have the stock metz ... and after reading so much on the forum about thier handling traits. .. for sure it will be the first to go once i get some wear on it. The last owner got fresh tires a year ago but didnt ride it at all.

New and slightly lifted shocks after tire change. The thing about being in Dubai is that parts are not so accessible unless you spend on air frieght shipping costs.

I came from Hayabusa and other sports type bikes to my first R3. The riding position is indeed strange at first, but after a short period of use - you really notice the comfortable position and it works. Before modding - give it a chance. Be safe..
