I had a data tool alarm system fitted last year and the techy that fitted it installed a flashing LED in the side cover of the bike much to my irritation seeing as the bike has an indicator light on the rev counter dial. I would like to reroute the supply to the rev counter and wondered if anyone knew where the wires from the led on the rev counter are run too, so that i can locate them and connect my wires from the side cover led.

many thanks

Cant help sorry , But I thought that datatools alarm that triumph sell is just a plug in unit for the Rocket model

Sully, this data tool unit was not fitted by Triumph and I had only had the bike for a month when i had it fitted and i used my local bike shop to install the unit, and only found out later that there was a different unit that could have been installed hence the botch.

I am now about to embark on a 4000 mile trip through France, Spain and Portugal. As the LED on the side cover is not very visible I want it to be more visible for security whilst on this trip.

regards

Ian

Follow the wire from led in the side panel to alarm loom, disconnect it and i think the clock light should start working.
If it is the correct alarm for the bike it is already factory wired for that alarm.
Sometimes their isn't enough power from the alarm to run two led's.
And some alarms will favour the optional one which you seem to have connected.

Just read your last post... Ring Datatool, they are helpful, I'm sure they will tell you which wire it is.

Tried that and no luck, seems like I have the Datatool s4 version which is not specifically for the triumph.

There is a small rubber connector hangiing loose under the side cover with two wires leading in to it, would this be the supply for the led or is it maybe something else to do with testing the system on the bike?

As far as i know the wire that sends a feed to the led in the clocks is in the plug under the tank that the alarm connects to to. It is hard to say without seeing how the alarm you have is wired. The connector you are seeing has nothing to do with the alarm.. Triumphs alarm connector block is under the tank toward the front of the bike.

If you call Datatool on Monday they should be able to tell you which wire it is in the connector block and you can run your existing LED wire up to it and connect to it. I will PM you my number if you got any questions.

Thanks Scotty I will do that and if you can pm your number to me that would be of great help.

Many thanks to all with their suggestions.

Just a little note after having spent a few hours cleaning the bike, has any other rocketeer noticed the amount of rust that appears after just one year?
