One of our Rocket riders, Spongy Rider, from the San Diego area, recently sold his 2008 R3T. It was a real beaut, too. I saw it when we got together and took our wives to Julian. A seriously farkled bike!
He was asking quite a bit and I'm unsure of what he ended up getting for it.
I'd be interested as my 2009 Touring is trying my patience...
I absolutely love my 2011 R3T! I installed the "Like new" D&D mufflers I bought from another forum member on it yesterday and had the TORS tune downloaded at the local dealer today. It now runs like it should have from the factory. The bike is basic and raw just like I wanted. I traded in my 07 Harley Street Glide on it and will NEVER look back! (Unless it starts breaking!)
I like being an individual. When I get my license plate, I'm going to have a custom license plate frame made and put "Triumph" on the top and "Follow no one" on the bottom. I was tired of being just another guy on a Harley. My bike is not for sale! It's a keeper!
If I were to ever get another bike while owning the R3 it would probably be a Bonnie or a moped ... anything else that I would expect to go fast on would just be a disappointment from now on.
The only thing the R3 doesn't do that I kinda miss in a bike is the ability to toss it around, jump curbs and park it in a bike rack. LOL
mine intimidates me. i have a wonderful 08 r3 classic, and honestly, it scares the hell out of me. it's got more power than i can use and it's stock other than the tors and cat delete and download that allows that stuff to work properly. i'm a firm believer that the rocket 3's intention is to rip the arms out of the shoulder sockets. .
Three neophytes waked over from the H-D side of the house in Raleigh last Saturday, after looking at the engine they decided it was way too much for them to handle and went back. I wish STB had been there so she could lambast them.
"Rockets should have a warning sticker on the tank .. CAUTION. RIDING THIS MOTORCYCLE WILL SCREW YOU FROM EVER REALLY ENJOYING RIDING ANY OTHER MOTORCYCLE EVER AGAIN !!!!" Well said, TC. Well said indeed. We must also respectfully disagree with those who say the Beast is ugly. We grant that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but we think the Beast is visually appealing in a sledge hammer, bulldozer kind of way. It cannot be called "elegant" looking, but it certainly is an attention getter. For the moment, we care not the market value of the Beast, as ours is definitely not for sale. We trudge on.
