rocket 3 drive unit

Hi,The drive unit on my 2007 rocket 3 is looking really bad,the paint is lifting off etc..Thinking about removing the unit and getting it painted or if possible powder coated.

Any thoughts on the best way to get the best finish.

..take it off, scuff it up, and paint with high temp paint..

Plasti-dip it.
Just the outside of course, not the whole thing...
You can buy it in a spray can now i think,
so you wouldn't even have to take it off.

I didn't want to start a new thread.....So here is a update.

After removing all the loose paint from the drive unit i am not really sure how to tackle the problem.
I am thinking perhaps aluminium acid etch primer on the bare metal then paint and clear coat..

Has anyone had any success with painting the drive unit and have some good advice.
