Hi there! what do you think about the new Rivco ignition relocation kit?
(advantages and disadvantages) If someone has installed it, is it easy to do? About the hole of the genuine kit how is the new cover to hide it? thanks.

Yes I've done it. Much better than stock.

When I find my camera, I will post pictures. I do have to warn you though,

I ended up letting my mechanic do the install as it was a real pain.

Found my camera.

hey, Jethro, is them there a bunch of ol' love bugs squished on top of the triple tree, ain't yer t'bacca spit makong it past the bike?

Yeah, My dealer just started carrying these... After I am ready to step onto my upgraded R3 for the first time, he comes out and says "Oh Mike, I forgot to try to talk you into one of these ignition relo kits... Thought about it when installing your Windvest"... Said sorry, got some exciting riding and testing to do... Maybe at my 10K service in 2000 miles... In the place of the present ignition switch, I will have him put the cig lighter/adapter plug for XM, GPS, etc. down the road...

Mike...

The ignition lock is gone when you move the ignition switch. IMHO. it doesn't really matter because if someone REALLY wants to steal your bike, then they will simply show up with five strong friends and carry it away! That's how it's done. This fact also makes it utterly stupid for the factory to have used anti-tamper screws to attach the ignition switch to the bike. All that does is make it WAY more difficult to remove the switch to install the Rivco kit or for any other reason. Too many engineers sitting around trying to justify their paychecks! Sigh!

Recently two boys were caught stealing motorcycles. They were sitting the front wheel (locked with a neck lock or disc lock) on a skate board and rolling them away. You can only slow down a determined thief!

Absolutely, your right, the lock is gone, but a thief could easily break it anyway.
The anti tamper screws were why I let the mechanic do the install, I didn't
have the right cutting tools.

Mike, thanx for the heads up :) ...I think I'll have Timmy install this when they finally get to fixin' up m'lady. 8) If that's what the adjuster's conclusion is...still haven't heard anything yet. :x :x

Thanks for all these answers. That's right, if they really want this bike they will steal it. But, I suppose you can eliminate the majority of ordinary isolate thiefers. Ok for the "professionnals"" nothing to do. I know.
your answers were very interresting for me.
Thank again all of you.
