I just attempted to install the ignition switch relocation kit from Rivco. All was well until I went to plug in the extension harness. Problem is the connectors on the Rivco piece are different than what my 2005 Rocket has. Apparently when I had the "upgrade kit" installed last fall, a redesigned ignition switch connector was spliced in by the mechanic, so the Rivco connectors no longer work. I have contacted the Triumph dealer I bought the Rivco kit from, and sent an e-mail to Rivco, but I suspect it's going to be my problem to fix with a soldering iron. Just a warning to all....

You don't mention whether the "upgrade kit" was a Triumph dealer "mechanic" installation. If it were then the Triumph dealer should be footing the bill? IMHO.

The new ignition switch connectors are part of the dealer installed upgrade kit you get when they have to go into your engine under warranty. The Rivco kit is designed to use the old replaced connectors, so Rivco will need to put the new connectors in there kit to cover this situation.

I'm not impressed with Rivco or their offerings. I bought a set of tip-over bars 2 years ago and had to use a die grinder on the lower mounting holes to get them to align properly. The avreage owner probably would have had to return them or would have buggered up the holes because most owners don't have access to die grinders.

There is no excuse for that kind of workmanship at the price they ask. That is the primary reason I don't represent Rivco on my website. I've been approached by Rivco and have declined them. I really appreciate the fact that Rivco is a domestic manufacturer but again, I'm not impressed with the workmanship. There is no excuse for lack of quality control in today's marketplace.

In the past, some dealers refused to rep Rivco because their acessories were overly time consuming to install or didn't fit at all. Whether that's the case now, I have no idea, but in the past, that was the case.

Talked to the tech guy at Rivco. Triumph changed the ignition switch connectors for 2008 Rockets, and installing the new style connectors when the "dealer upgrade" kit is installed. Rivco has been unable to source the new style connectors. The moral of this story is to check your ignition switch connectors on 2007 and prior year rockets before ordering their kit.
