A mate of mine got me a bottle of alloy polish from the USA a few years ago it was watery white liquid with a ballbearing in it to stir it up. I can't remember the name of it but it was better than autosol, mothers or any of the stuff available in Aust.

What are people doing to really clean and polish up the front and rear rims. Mine have brake dust and a white powdery looking residue that can't be taken off with regular cleaning. Any suggestions on good cleaning products that won't damage the finish of the rims? And, are Rocket rims made of aluminum?

Today I used Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish on my 2011 R3T and it worked like a charm with only a medium amount of elbow grease required.

Used Purple Polish to clean my very grotty wheels once .. a long time ago , powder coated them shortly after that from memory , prick of a job.. they came up like new though. Sold through Mac Truck Dealerships here in Australia.

Just about to order some Flitz polish and some of their polishing balls with the long shaft that you attach to a fast drill and then spread the polish on the aluminium and use the rotating buff ball to polish it up. I haven't tried it yet, but the demo video from Autogeeks featuring the Flitz CEO looks impressive. I don't see how they can fake the results on live video so I'm impressed both with the result and the lack of hard work...

Just ideally need a lift to get the bike off the ground, and you probably have to dismount the right-hand pannier rail to really have a shot at getting around the massive brake disc.

The white stuff on the wheel, btw, is corroded aluminium or aluminium "rust" which shows just how useless the coating is on these wheels, the rear will start corroding pretty much on season 1 of riding. The front will start about year two (less filth splashing it vs the rear).

I used Autosol and elbow grease on the rear and got decent results, but it's very hard to get at the wheel to polish it especially on the right-hand side. A buffball with a several inches long shaft on it should do the trick.

Powdercoat them! Then just wash them! Dave does an amazing job and is very reasonable. You can send your rims to him and you will not be disappointed!
I got so tied of trying to keep up with the rims!
