Rick Mayer seat feedback/Radar Detectors . . . ??

That makes no sense why would you people let your government regulate an item that in no way presents any physical or mental danger to anyone around?

Might as well ban bubble gum.

I wasn't part of the "you people" that let the government of Va to enact this. It was in place before I got here.

I doubt if it would ever be repealed either. I can't imagine a politician that would stand up to the LEO community who is obviously the ones who promoted this.

Along the same lines, "you people" in WA allowed the stupid new helmet sticker law to be enacted. I believe that a helmet is an "item that in no way presents any physical or mental danger to anyone around."

The law enforcement community in VA takes high advantage of the no radar detector law too. Traveling through the lovely state of VA and it is beautiful, btw, on my back and forth trips to PA from GA on I-81, right after I hit the state line (VA, TN) I noticed an abundance of State Troopers, local Sheriffs, and local Police, in any manor of vehicle from for real police cruisers ie. Crown Vics, dodge Chargers, etc., to Jeep Liberties and various other forms of unmarked vehicles. Along one stretch of 81 I counted within a 5 mile stretch, a total of 23 marked cars and the unmarked cars I recognized. After-all there is nothing else to keep you from drifting off to sleep, while you creep along. The reason for no radar detectors in VA is the lowered speed limit, it drops to 55 MPH on some stretches on 81 for no apparent reason, other than it can. It is definitely not in the interest of public safety, one of the reasons for my radar detector is I use it to warn me of danger ahead, yes I also use it to remind me to watch my speed, but it also serves to warn me of an officers presence while he is working an accident scene. If 70 MPH is safe in TN and West VA, then why isn't it safe in VA on the same road? I'll type it real slow and in big letters just in case some politico from VA happens to read this, are you ready?

And Duke, I can find no reference in the GA codes about radar detectors being illegal in GA in passenger vehicles, I found the ones for commercial vehicles over 10,001 lbs GVWR but no reference to passenger vehicles under that. Could you post a link to that section of code if you know it, I'd like to read it and win some bets with it.

I could be mistaken... I don't do traffic, but I thought I heard it somewhere. I will check into it and let you know.

Rick Mayer seat

Update: Rick Mayer Cycle seat.

My wife and I went to see Rick at his shop outside Redding, CA. this week. Rick revised both the rider and passenger seats. He added more of the dencer foam and raised the fronts along with lowering the backs of each seat. My seat is a little higher off the ground so I am slightly tippy- toed with both feet on the ground when solo. The new padding and revised shape are wecome improvements. Rick liked the way they turned out so much he asked us if we would allow him to photograph these seats for his new brochure. Of course we obliged him.

Here is a comparison of the OEM to RMC seats. On a scale of 1 to 10.
(The seats in our Porsche being the 10)

OEM Triumph Seats
Riders seat: 4
Passenger seat: 1

Local Made Custom Passenger seat:3

RMC First Try by mail order
Riders seat:6
Passenger seat:7

RMC revised seat by ride in fitting
Riders seat: 8
Passenger seat: 8

When I had my second seat made by Rick (this time for the R3) I was a little short on $ and am going back soon to have the pillion added...my wife prefers the softer seat and will have it shaped to fit her fine..er I mean tender ass..must keep mama happy.. I starded haveing Rick turn the front of the seat up a little for the Caponord and he did the same for the R3..he thought at first that it might make the "boys" a little uncomfortable on sudden stops but it has not been a problem and the design helps build a "pocket" to sit in...

Radar detectors

What would happen if you rode from NC to VA with a detector fitted, where do you stand as a non VA resident, assuming you do not use it of course?

I'll have to ask some of my LEO buds. My guess is that an out-of-stater would be asked to put it away while in VA. Technically, it is illegal to possess but a certain amount of discretion would be appropriate. Now if you were being an a-hole to the Trooper, then I imagine you would get slapped with a rather hefty summons.
