RDU Expansion

Marty, I'll be in on whatever is happening. No way I'd let you down.
What exactly is happening over the 6 hours?

Absolutely I don't intend to let that happen either mate I'm happy to be involved in whatever is organized I was just clearing the air on what I thought was happening and what I thought the trip was about is all . Either way I'll c u all there and I'm looking forward to it

Marty , you are misunderstanding what is being said mate. No-one is against the bike show/fundraiser , well no-one i have spoken to anyway. I think everyone is really looking forward to it to be honest. As far as no-one giving you suggestions on what will make for a good weekend , that's just not correct. I have as you and all those that read the posts know have on a number of occasions expressed my belief that focusing on the Owners having a good weekend should be the priority. Our auction will raise the lions share of funds , considering the sausage sizzle and soft drinks will raise funds for another organisation of your choosing. We have well in excess of $1,500 in donations to be auctioned off , thats not counting the entry fee the Owners are willing to pay to enter the show. All in all i think we are being more than generous and supportive of your chosen charity.

Saturday Bike Show

The 6 hours will be spent at the sports grounds of the Hervey Bay High School, this is where the bike show will take place, hopefully where a good turn out from the local community to support the cause.

My thought was people that come throw in 1 or 2 dollars as every bit helps when raising money for charity.

Local Children's Amusement hire bloke rang today and was going to put rides in for kids to keep people there as long as possible not just for the Show & Auction, but just to let people know not every one that rides bloody big bikes fits the image that the media, law enforcement and politicians make out we are.

Will be a sausage sizzle, Tea & Coffee provided by the Buffalo Lodge with their proceeds going to get a disabled child a special chair so she will be able to move around without spending another 2 years bedridden.

Cathy & I will organise cold drinks.

Never questioned anyone's interest, support or generosity, I just wouldn't have done a lot of stuff if it had been made clear people may not or were not interested in a bike show.

Wow don't go near the putor for a couple of hours and this crap hits the fan
Sorry Guys but maybe some need to get their reading glasses on
I understood What Marty was doing from the very beginning Go back and read some of his early Posts, Personaly I take my hat of to Marty for organising This Week endHe sugested the bike show and fund raising almost from the start, unfortunitly I have had other Issues to contend with Or I might have been involved in some way. In fact I am ashamed that I have not been up to it or able to contribute more But Hell or High Water was not going to stop me getting there even if I am doing the trip on a shoe string, Marty this is going to be awesome and can't wait to meet up with the rest of you guys, I think you guys forget while we have the bikes on show we will be chatting amongst ourselfs ... just cos we are not drinking or rolling drunk at the time... so what you have some time to enjoy fri nite so long as you keep it reasonlably paced and then you have all saturday arvo and evening, if you are going home sunday you can just sleep in a bit or you should have allowed an extra day.
Marty please don't feel you have done wrong you made your intended plans clear from the start

Post deleted due to me losing interest in this discussion . People hear what they want to rather than what I actually say so I'll keep all views and opinions to myself

Just to get things into perspective here ... no-one i repeat no-one is against the bike show therefore no-one is against the fundraising . Marty's initial idea to raise funds were to charge Owners to enter their own bikes and charge the public a gold coin to have a look. Even from the get-go the Owners would have contributed more than the public unless hundreds of people turn up .. unlikey i'd reckon. It was actually my idea to approach bike shops , buisnesses and see if they would like to donate something to be auctioned , the auction also was my idea. Like i said we have been fortunate in the donations we have to auction. I have no idea where the idea that Owners didn't want to have a bike show came from, certainly not me. What i did question was all the other 'attractions ' that Marty has suggested , read the posts and see for yourself. My descpription of turning a simple bike show into a 'carnival' related to feedback i'd got from the Owners that just wanted to keep things small and spend time together over the weekend. Really hope this helps to clear up some of the misunderstandings.

I spoke with Marty this morning , confusion and misunderstandings on both our parts have been sorted. Sometimes a phonecall is much better than emails or posts we've discovered
