Radiator shrouds and air flow

Harry, thanks for the pics. That is probably the color I may have to get as the red/black combo does not appear to be a choice for the 2010's.

What kind of seat is that? ....and how much?

The design of a radiator shroud normally lends to the efficiency of the air passing through the fins.

Are you not at all concerned that by removing the shroud, you're putting the motor at risk for overheating?

I like the bearclaw trim, I left the front on mine to hide the overflow tank. What did you end up doing with it, under the seat or gas tank?
If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to get a look at your detector and GPS set-up .... I'm interested in how you mounted everything so clean and "one-piece" looking.

My first shot at trimming the bearclaw was just as you describe. I then decided to move it into the stock filter location and trim the rest of the bearclaw off. Main reason I moved it was in an attempt to get more air to the filters. With the lowers in place the filters are in pretty stagnant air and the intake air temperatures are pretty high. Trimming the rest of the bearclaw and removing the lowers brought the IAT down by 15-20 degrees. Of course, in the winter its not a big deal, but in the summer around here I was seeing intake air temps over 130 degrees. So when it warms up I'll remove the lowers again.

The GPS and radar detector are on Ram mounts. They have just variations for just about anything you'd want to mount.

I could really see this going very well on a flat black Roadster. That bike already looks stripped down, shrinking the size of the side trims would take that look farther.

yep, i agree

i saw some photos of an ali rad, maybe at the carpenter racing site?

if i ever have to replace the rad i will look into a motor racing application - maybe a rad by mocal or goodridge etc etc - wd need to be careful to get the same flow rates / specs as oem, but it cd be probably a little smaller...
