I've noticed more buffeting when I'm wearing my helmet new helmet, I think it may have something to do with it being ligher, I dunno.
Wearing my HJC Sy-max 2, I have no problems, but with my new HJC is-33, I notice it more. About 2 pounds weight difference. Or it could be the design of the helmet...

I wish National Cycle made their removable, Switchblade windshield for the R3. It's great, in 3 heights and removes by just pulling forward and down gently on the top of the shield. The faster you go, the tighter it locks onto the bike. It's polycarbonate and the mounts are top notch.

We got the tire companies moving. Anyone want to bug National Cycle about this, you'll be glad you did if we can convince them. I had one on my Valkyrie and have been bugging National since I got the R3.

JohnC, I am also 5'11" and 32" and have issues with the stock screen. I have a Nolan flip helmet that is basically unusable at 85 mph on the RIII. My head bounces around like all h-ll. I have a Shoei that is better and an old Aria that is slightly better than that. So the helmet is PART of the story. I changed screens, (old scratched stock for new unscratched stock) and THAT is when all the trouble began. I had already thrown the old screen away so I cannot tell if there is some weird difference in the curve or shape of the screen. I suspect the way I have mounted it is the real problem but I have not fooled with it enough to find a position that works better. Some have posted that putted the little deflectors on the lower area, below the screen, improved the buffeting problems.
If you get a new screen and it works, I'll be interested in your report.

At 6'2" the stock screen has the air hitting me at about shoulder level. I have both screens and the with the tall screen I have to add a sheepskin pad to be able to just look over the top. With that setup, the ride is very comfortable with little buffeting.

For summer riding I've removed the lower pieces (just the plastic of course) from the stock short screen and find that gives even more airflow. The most comfortable ride is with no screen, but of course that can get tiring after a couple of hundred miles of higher speeds.

at 6'5" I have to keep the stock screen all the way up to make it any better... but even like this I still felt the paint-shaker above 60.

I just tried the lowers on the bike ( thanks HEAD) and this seems to have fixed the problem. I still catch a little buffeting but now I can read license plates at speed instead of struggling to read my speedometer.

I run the Clearview Screen along with Triumph Lower Deflectors. Without the lowers, alot of wind comes up under the screen and buffets the helmet/head area - with the lowers I don't notice that very much at all.

When you say 'all the way up', are you saying the screen is adjustable? I can find no way to adjust the screen on my R3T. Maybe I'm just missing something.

Regular rocket, not the touring, right? The Touring's quick release system works great. Very sold, and very easy/quick to release.

No issues there, just the aerodynamics. A big part of the problem may be the way the air comes across the stock hardware(based on my cut-down experiment).

Mine's the touring, but the 2007 before they "improved" it by reducing the power. That shield is not removable, easily anyway.
