Ride
2009 R3T
This ride has been going through my mind for over a year now. San Diego to Highway 50 (ghost towns galore!) to Reno, and back down to San Diego.

I’m doing it solo. Leaving this Saturday, November 17th and returning on the 19th.

· 572 miles the first day, from San Diego to Ely, Nevada (via Las Vegas).

· 320 miles the 2nd day, from Ely to Reno (via the Loneliest Highway in America—Hwy 50).

· 560 miles the last day, from Reno to San Diego (stopping in Bishop, CA).

Well, it looks like I'll be doing this ride this weekend (Saturday-Monday). Less than 1,500 miles round trip and the weather is perfect right now (clear and a little brisk).

Talk me out of this!

Or track my progress by following me via my Spot tracker. The link is in the upper right hand corner of my blog.

Here's the blog link:

It will be a great and memorable ride, even more so if you break down out in the middle of nowhere on that lonliest road. Definitely not a ride for the feint of heart. Good luck and have fun!

Those trips where you're on your own out in the middle of no-where , not a soul or a dwelling sighted in days .. they are the memorable ones i reckon. Knowing if you have an crash or break down you're on your own . The risks and dangers are a strange sort of buzz and getting back to civilisation safely, knowing you have done a trip that has really tested you. Not done one for quite a few years now .. mmmmm !!!

Yep well enjoy the trip and stay safe.
Reckon its about time I broke out again, saved up enough leave too + LSL, hmm its do able. Meet ya half way TC.

We're crossing the country in a months time. Brissy to Albany WA... in the Navara  loading the Speed Triple in the back. Albany is beautiful country and the roads are superb Catherine assures me . That'll be my 'trip' until i can get some more leave squirreled away , or they give me the bullet :D big f#ckin barney with the boss yesterday so you never know hey !!!
