Thanx!
My salesman was the one who noticed it when he was showing it off to another customer.. He was insisting that I bring it in but I'm gonna wait for the first cold snap so he can have it for as long as it needs..

My rear leak was fixed by putting a copper washer under the bolt holding the sensor on (done by the dealer).. haven't had a leak since.

My Classic "weeped" for about 1500 miles. The dealer told me it might because the bike is sprayed with it at the factory for shipping. He said it gets in everywhere and try as they might, they couldn't get all of it off in the pre-sale prep. I continued to clean it with a mild degreaser and eventually got it all. There was some around the head.

This is not to suggest yours are the same. I thought Triumph had ceased doing this after dealer complaints and was now shrink wrapping them.

I read a while back that somone else had a oil leak coming from the rear of the motor; mine started that today. I am putting it in for a warranty call, but I was curious what happened to the person who posted a few months ago with the same problem?
Hey BFG,
That was me.... It was a leaking head gasket, and they had to pull it apart and replace it. Mine was in the shop for a month, and I was none to happy about the whole thing (and have since stopped going to Southern California Triumph in Brea. They lost my business because of the incompetent service department). I can deal with some technical issues on this bike... but the way their service department handled it was crap. I was treated as if it was my problem, not theirs.
From doing a little research on it, it seems that this is a problem that has been popping up on the R3T. I just read in one of the magazines that is doing a extended riding test, that it happened on that bike as well.
It will be repaired under warranty, but just make sure that when you take it in, you let them know that you have done your homework, and expect your bike back in a reasonable amount of time.
FYI, I also had an issue with a small electrical fire back in the same area. I think that some time during replacing the head gasket, they pinched the wiring harness, and it started arcing and eventually caught on fire. That was good for another 3 weeks in the shop.... and they F'd with my air horn, and loosened it up and disconnected a couple of wires.... And then Swore to me that they didn't touch it.
Sorry for the rant.... :oops:I got a little carried away. After they replace the head gasket, just keep an eye on that area for a while.
