r3t front tire

im be getting a new front tire soon but thinking bout changing brand from a metz to one of these and would like some feed back which would be apprciated

My experience was that the Avon Cobra was stickier and handled better than the Metzler. It also wore out faster.

I'm running a 404 on the front of my R3T and pretty much wore out at 7700 miles.

I get 10-11000 on mt metz..but no car tire on rear..not sure what effect that has.

I've been running the cobra tires front and back on both my R3 and R3R. I get anywhere from 6M to 9M on the front depending on how much I use my break into turns. I suppose I could get more mileage if I rode it less aggressively, but then....

I've gone to the Avon Cobra but I've got less than 1,000 miles since install. I love it so far.

What are you looking for? Distance/mileage or stick-to-the-roadness?

The Dunlop Elite 3s are loooooong distance tires, but aren't made for twisties. I assure you of that...

I run a Shinko 757. I got 6400 klm (with original Metzler) out of my first original Metzler and 7000 klm out the second (while running a Darkside) have 9000klm (with Darkside) on the Shinko just about worn down to tread depth indicators and no scullolping on one side like the metzlers did no matter what tyre pressure I ran(42 and still sculloping). I run the Shinko at 40 psi even when nearly worn out still get good wet weather grip as proven today when I went to Canberra 300klm round trip it started raining 60klm into the trip so that's 240klm in wet conditions at my normal highway cruising speeds (120 to 140 klm/h at times dropping back to 100 in some of the bumpy windy section but of course slowing right down when coming down the mtn (greasy at the best of times in the wet) all in all I can not fault the Shinko it's cheaper, grips better and lasts longer than the sh1t Metzler likes to call a tyre, a mate that has been running avons told me he going to switch to the Shinko.
I also found it requires less counter steer and turns in to corners with less effort even to the point that when I first put it on I almost went over on the first corner I came to (near sh1t myself) I have heard a lot of good things about dunlop 404 tyre wear wise so long as you are not an aggressive rider, which I am.
Just a small fact for anyone asking "Shinko never heard of them?" Shinko is actually a division of The Yokohama Tire company and in the mid nineties changed the motorcycle division name to Shinko for what reason I don't know but any body that rode bikes back in the 70s 80s will remember even back then that they( Yohohama's) were a great trye.

Since I'm more of a long distance rider, I realized I needed a harder tire.

I liked the Metz 880, but it wore out too soon. It was a soft, comfortable tire that was prone to cupping and early wear (in my opinion).

The Avon, Dunlop and similar tires were more my style and I've been very happy with them while riding slab for 1000+ mile days.

However, as other riders will tell you, these tires aren't great for gripping the road in tight turns.

With that understanding, I will likely remain with my Dunlop E3s as I'm easily getting 15K miles on them; I expect 20K miles on them before I swap them out.

I replaced the orginal Metz on my Classic at 8800 miles, the front had cupped like crazy, I wasn't a fan. Went to the Avon Cobra and it felt like a new bike (but I'm pretty sure any new tires have that effect). Anyway, I have about 7000 on the Avons and they are still in good shape but I will probably replace them sometime before next riding season anyway. I'll go with the Avons again.
