R3R 2014 model Bhp and Torque figures

Thanks guys

Dougl, do you think the power commander is worth the monies? What differences do you think I would notice once installed?

I've never really done anything more than exhaust changes on any bike/car I've ever owned.

Any idea of the cost here in the UK?

Cheers

this is the gain i got with staintune cans power, comander111, but i have done some major upgrades since

If you can download a modified tune using TuneECU without killing your ECU, there' s no need for a PCV. I wouldn't do that until someone loads a tune into the ECU on a 2014 without killing it. The PCV costs less than $400 US and tuning it should cost less than $300.

However, why do any of this? Do you feel the bike is too slow?

Bike rides fine though I'm interested in learning from you guys if there are simple mods that enable the motor to run as it is was design to do so with out changing many things

If for a few hundred quid a remap the can improve performance whilst maintaining the traceability of the bike I might look into this further.

If on the other hand opinions are that the improvements are marginal and the factory set up is the best then I'll leave it alone.

I suspect that with mass production tolerances being what they are, any generic factory mapping is unlikely to get the best out of every bike in every area of the engines performance.

Glad to hear what others have experienced and listen suggestions

Cheers

Here are some dyno runs on my (former) 2005 R3. The 2 highest runs are from a tune by the guy who owns Tuneboy for a Rocket with TORs and cat bypass. It's almost 150 ft lbs and 140 hp (peak hp). The other two are for the stock Triumph tune, which is different from the current TOR tune for the Roadster. Note that the stock tune was unrestricted at the high end so the HP wasn't much different. You can see where it's restricted from 2300-3300 rpm. The torque and hp curves cross at about 5200 rpm. My torque curve is higher than yours at 5000 rpm - don't know why. These are the same engines. However, the pipes are different and you have some kind of crossover.Note that there can be a lot of variation between dynos and dyno operators.

If you want real power gains, you have to start by replacing the exhaust manifold. Barring that, spending a lot of money on a PCV and custom dyno isn't going to buy you a lot of real power, although you should be able to see a gain at the high end by opening the secondary throttle plates 100% using TuneECU, if possible.

Which include a new exhaust system, cams, and possibly pistons - how much total just to give our friend some reference as to what real power costs?

dougl a few of us in aust have reband exhaust and dyno tune would give you around 160hp to 170 hp under 3 grand but once you start doing internal engine work like 10:1 pistons cams ports like i did around 10k you may like to fit a super charge kit as well then more like 20k some have done this here !
