I seem to remember a mention or two about there being a kill-switch built into the R3 that will turn off the engine in the event of a tip-over.

Is this true?
If so where it is?
If so how does one test it without actually tipping the bike over?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Tis true.

Fall detection switch - situated behind the left
hand side cover. The fall detection switch will
detect if the motorcycle is on its side and will cut
power to the ECM immediately. This prevents
the engine from running and the fuel pump from
delivering fuel. In the event of a fall, the switch is
reset by returning the bike to an upright position
and switching the ignition off then back on again.

Thanks Marcus
So I'm guessing that there is no way to test it without actually tipping the bike over huh? Which I'm not about to do but just checking.

If the switch has a high voltage, it'll throw a CEL with a P1632 DTC code, if it has a low voltage, it'll throw a CEL with a P1631 DTC.

Page 11.85 of the service manual has the testing procedures.

If you don't have the service manual, you can download it from my site here:

If you drive a Rocket, sooner or later you will use the tilt switch.

I thought you were supposed to pilot a rocket.
