P39r referred to a ram air setup (pic of it also),, is that all custom built or is it something that is available on the market? It looks similar to what I am concocting, but I really don't want to "re-create the wheel" if it is already out there. The pod filter idea is good, but still pulls a lot of heat from top of engine and behind radiator.

Not sure which one you're referring to. There's been a few made but as far as I know none available. There's a thread somewhere on here with pics of several of them - I'll post a link if I can find it.
I saw a prototype at Carpenters. It does not stick out any farther than the stock bear claw. Just a scoop similar to the V-Max of old but an open functional one.
depend where I have my Foot as I have boards and I am long in the leg My knee rests against them (the rubber edge) but if I straighten out my leg and have my feet on the hwy pegs the knee sits just below, but to be honest it has never troubled me even on really long rides and after a while you would even notice them unless you want to hug the tank with your knees. I love them
and they are more in proportion with the engine's size
I am also long in the leg, and have floorboards, I rarely use the highway pegs, I like being upright. I know I will touch them, I was just curious if it troubled you. I am going to try the 1770s, as the 4040s won't clear the Touring tank.

are they the ones that are angled? they would prpbally be better for a touring I forgot you had a touring .. I heard you don't have as much room to play with
That's the one-off Carpenter unit, which is a prototype. Not available to the general market at present and possibly never will be. We'll probably have to wait until well into the next Spring at the earliest before we have a clue.
