I keep a check on the oil and it still looked pretty good. If the clutch had lasted a while longer I would have probably left the oil till the 30000 mile waypoint.
The clutch was well worn doing all sorts of crazy riding. The last few burn outs probably saw to the end of it, especially due to the darkside rear tyre.

Triumph offical Castrol

Do You buy the "Special" sticker Castrol ? Bottled just for Triumph. I ran it on the second oil change to 10,000 and it was ugly. Think I'm gonna try Royal Purple this time..... Me thinks it will need to be changed @ 4,000 miles. Would this be correct to say ?

If it looks and feels good leave it be. Just keep a check on it regularly. I asked for oil at a Triumph dealer and got an altogether different brand for the previous oil. Dealers probably buy in equivalent oils cheaper and charge full rate or close to it. As long as the ratings are the same I would go with just about any oil.

I just rolled over 50,000 on mine. The only thing I've had to replace has been a TPS about 15,000 miles ago. Change my oil about every 9000 miles or so. Been running AMSOIL. She still purs like a kitten and pulls like a freight train. 8)

The dealer where I bought mine also owns a fleet of 40+ tractor trailors and he really knows his engines and piece parts. Both he and his mechanic, attended all the Triumph technical schools and such, and both agree that with proper scheduled maintenance, there's no reason it won't easily break the 100K mileage mark.

According to the Triumph workshop manual the oil should be changed after 500 miles, then 10000, then 20000 and so on.
Thanks, that will save a little money. The dealer failed to mention this when I asked if it was like a car, every 3,000. Since I baught it used there was no owners manual.

Like JohnC, had the same clutch problem at 5,000kms with my R3T, 10 weeks to get the parts. My Valkyrie has 120,000kms and has never let me down.

Still, I am off to Phillip Island for the GP in October, on the R3T, and back home via the Great Ocean Road, Murray Bend, Swan Reach, Renmark, then follow the Murray to the Snowy and then up to Sydney. Should be about 3,500kms. Looking forward to a trouble free trip.

Yeah it seems like being smart is not a requirement to hang a Triumph shingle in front of Your shop. One Rocket Captain that I know of that use's the closest Triumph shop about 60 miles away that the reason his tranny was jumping out of gear was from Him downshifting. Go figure that one :?: :?: :?:
