You May have an earth problem either in your Cruise Control (most likely) or your connection from the brake circuit is not correct. Have you converted your lights to LED?
Had Your Battery out recently?
Upset any Wiring?
You say you have great vacuum, but if the diaphragm inside the cruise control system has a hole in it (From age and usage) it will not hold speed, when speed diminishes past the set tolerance the cruise control will disengage.
Check your earth connection first, follow the cable to the cruise control unit to ensure all is good. Do the same check on your positive connection too - put a new fuse in it (even if it hasn't blown (Eliminates Possibilities).
Instruction Manual Below.
