R3 cruise control

That was very helpful. Plenty of vacuum, can't be the issue. The LED performs every function you suggested including the increased blinking when throttle advanced. This Audiovox ccs-100 passes all tests. Except it does not engage and , when brake is applied the dash switch indicates it has turned itself off. I tried just cutting the purple wire to the brake light but the unit would not function, nothing, no dash green light, no red LED. Must be something in the tail light wiring???? I installed this cruise control almost 5 years ago and it works great. Used this cruise control every time I rode. When I rode for the first time this Spring it failed to function..... ??????? Thanks for the help.

Helboy, One of two possible things could be happening.
1. Bad Earth
2. Bad Power
Bad earth or power could be a loose connection at the unit or bad connection inside the unit (A dry solder joint) Look inside the unit - looking for solder joints on the circuit board that have a ring or crack around the solder joint - not easy to see unless you know what to look for..
That purple wire sounds like it is earthing of getting power through the brake wiring system, you say the CC shuts down when you apply the brakes - this would take away the positive power or earth depending on if you have wired the purple wire to the hot side of the brake switch =(power) or the cold side = no power (completing the circuit for the brake lights to come on)

Can you do me a favour?
Take a photo of how you connected your throttle hook up - I am interested to know cos there are not many ways to do it.
Thanks
