Question about coils

Okay smarty pants, what else did you get up to in your lunch break?

Paul, you have way too much talent.

Ian, my knowledge of today is from blowing Engines to bits yesterday, figuring out why it broke then building it so it won't break again.
Then I'd run it harder .... and break it again

That's the bottom end of a Con Rod in the middle there.

Prior to getting the Rocket I had been into the 70's Triumph Triples, in that scene I had people from all around the world asking me how to build an Engine so it wouldn't break.
The T160 I've had since 1978, with two T150's prior to that.

Also along the way I made all sorts of tools to set up the Engine.
This below is an accurate Valve spring testing device, PSI gauge with a one square inch piston.

If either bike were a true coil per plug setup instead of coil per cylinder it would be different, but you should be fine swapping out.

Check that the ignition systems work the same though regarding coil driver circuit in the ecu.

Amazing how much a single broken part can teach you isn’t it? I learned a lot from blowing two motors. Went from barely being able to do oil changes to doing a full rebuild on a work bench, while up against a deadline to ship my car from Germany to the US that I couldn’t miss. Two years and much reading/wrenching, that car was the best engine education I could have ever gotten.

Got it torn down and rebuild in about 20 hours worth of work, wired the waste gate open to prevent any boost building by the shipping company, and disconnected the coolant sensor (locks the ECU into a 3000 rpm rev limit limp mode). Ran that motor for 25000 miles with 26psi of boost on that rebuild
