Q: How to ECU tune DIY?

Forgive my lack of knowledge and if this is posted somewhere, please direct me if it is.
I cant find a DIY write up on how to tune these rockets. I understand how to download and find tunes, but what cable do i need and what software etc...
I would like to tune my 06
I think i want to tune the secondaries to 100% open and also do whatever i can to "wake" it up from what i have been able to find

As you know i just did a deCAT and will have cobra pipes with the stock manifold.

I am no noob when it comes to stuff like this but i need some guidance on HOW and WHAT i need to do this.
I have a VCDS cable, not sure if that helps.

You need to download Tuneecu (on the net) & Lonelec cable or compatible Bluetooth for a start...
 
i cant seem to find the answer about teh VAG-COM vcds Cables working. What i gathered is that its a windows chip set and other than the license handshake for VCDS its the same cable as any other... i guess...
Anyone have success using any of these cables?

I have used this cable with Porsche with a pin swap with other software thus leading me to believe that as long as windows has the drivers for it, it should work.

TuneECU.net says i have to use the cable on these bikes.

I am having a bit of a head scratch at maps... does it matter that its not a TORS and just a decat with high flow strait though pipes? Do i need a tune for high altitude?
I just ordered a ram air kit so should i just shoot for a TORS with pods or K&N and call it good?

yes, they have a glass packed strait though vortex internal of 2 inches s-l12600.jpg s-l1600 - Copy.jpg

There will be a map close to suit either on tuneecu website or the resource page on here. I downloaded one (not sure if here or there) for one of my rockets...running 3 k&n & viking slip on muffler, runs fantastic.

I see some tunes that also have a power commander
Q: is there a benefit to having a power commander AND a tune?
I thought that a tune is what that does!

Personally wouldn't bother with power commander unless you do major upgrades. Its just a piggy back ecu with more adjustments.
I had one on one of mine & took it off.
Just doing ramair or k&n & exhaust no need for what hp you may gain & more expense 🤷‍♂️😎🚀
