As most of you know by now, I will be Rocketeer by the end of the 1st qaurter of 2010, so i am trying to learn all thAt i can to prepare myself for any necessay/desired mods.

Many have suggested that the beast will benefit from a better shock in the rear and very few have indicated that the front suspension would gain much by swapping it out ror a progressively wound spring. My inclination would be to put a 440 standard on the back (I'm about 200lbs geared up). I believe that the stock size is 12.75" so i'd prolly stay close to the OEM geometry. Are there any good reasons to go a different way with the rear shocks?

12.5 is the stock length for the standard Rocket.

I would see how you think the stock shocks are. If you get 440's with the heavy duty springs, there is not much difference. I first went with the standard 440's in a 12" With my wife on it back it would bottom out over curbs (I'm 200 and she's 135).

I'm puzzled that the 440's bottom out. I've carried two up and a tad over 30# of luggage with the 412's and only on the second setting, maybe the 3rd setting with no bottoming out. I thought the 440's were the ****znitz?

There's definitely something wrong with those 440s, Pig9r. They absolutely should not be bottoming out with your very normal weight loading. Speak to Beth at 877-690-7411, X259 on their customer service/tech desk. She'll do the right thing for 'ya!

It could just be the setting or you may have bad or blown seals.
