Before I go wild with this thing I just want to make sure I have one thing straight, this allows you to load 2 maps and switch on the fly right? So if I want one map with less power and better fuel economy for those long highway trips, and then be able to flip a switch and pull up my power map to drag race some squid who just pulled up next to me on his CBR600 at the stop light? This of course will mean two dyno runs and weeks of tweaking things and probably some other add-on that will ultimately double my cost. Maybe I'll just save my pennies for that Carpenter kit I've been debating about for the last year.

Multiple maps:
There is no reason that you cannot map for best output at all points, and then tune the cruise region lean for good fuel consumption. In fact, I do this regularly. The difference in output at cruise (up to 8% TPS) between power producing mixture ratios, and leaner ratios is so small that it is inconsequential to output. Yet the fuel mileage gains can be substantial. You just need to add more fuel for acceleration compensation - when you grab the throttle. This way you have good mileage, yet full power is there when you want it.

I do this for the road race bikes as well - less fuel needed, means the bike is easier to throw around in the turns. At 6.25 lbs per gallon, located high on the frame, this is a good place to reduce weight.

Now mapping less agressively for riding in the rain, can be a good idea, as can a second map for a different fuel - pump gas/race gas, 87 octane/93 octane, pump gas/E85, etc.

cool

I looked at that link and by the time I can afford it, e.g:,laptop,PCV and all the goodies, I will be more educated on how to do it
Thanks

The power commander III's don't require a laptop to program, they have an external power source so you can bring them in to your desktop for programming with canned tunes or customer tweeks. If the PCV does all it's own adjusting, what does it use a PC for? I should look at their website again to see what's been added since I looked last.

power -trip ,

Other then being able to advance timing with
PC V any other ways to get more ( performance ) with PC V
if you'd been dyno'ed with PC III

Question . just called guy who dyno'ed my bike
Asked , if getting PC V and auto tune , would get me more hp
answer : not really

Or he doesn't know what he's talking about !
Just seem odd he'd turn down a sale .
Or is he just being honest not worth hp difference
if been dyno'ed already

PS have accel pump installed with pc III

i'm wonderin' now,
if this new PC V that does this auto tune on the fly,
knows the optimal A/F settings and adjusts to and for that,
or if it's like the Dobeck and you have to experiment to get it right.
or can you just tell it the ideal A/F mixture and regardless of altitude or circumstances
it'll alter your bikes needs and adjust itself,
or just switch from one pre loaded tune to another pre loaded tune.
Any enlightenment?
