Tuneboy? TuneEcu? I am looking to crank a few more horses out of my Scooter. I was searching the forums here and know quite a few of you have gone the autotune route. Someone please help me and explain some of the advantages/ disadvantages of doing this and maybe even where you would purchase a setup and what would be a good price/ find. I didn't see any in the classifieds here. Just wanna juice the old girl up a bit. I've got a VRod at work who keeps getting the itch to try me. He has a few mods so I know he will probably take me on the Touring. I just need a little edge.

Thanks in advance, fellas!
Dave

P.S.
Keep in mind,
2010 Touring
Will be doing install myself

TuneECU is great, and free, I doubt a vrod would take my Touring, but haven't tried one yet.

Get in touch with dtgiese here on this site. He might still have his auto tune and be willing to part with it. He (last I heard) was just going to stay with the tune that powertripp did for him and was looking to sell his PCV/AutoTune...

Thanks guys, appreciate the advice. I am also considering a GI Pro ATRE. This actually may be a good first step in mods since all I have now is a K and N and semi gutted stock pipes.

wait for the numbers to come out I know Bob Carpenter is tuning a R3T this week with a Brute pipe on her I am betting he gets her in the 160's

That's one of the things holding me back on the Carpenter package, I can smoke the 180 now with about 150 hp.

first you could probably fit up to a 200 mm tire on the toruing. I have heard this same statement from guys with regular rokets. yet when I pulled up on my friend who tunes bikes for a living at 120 mile per hour cruised a little with him and then dumped the throttle he said two things. 1 he has never seen a bike take off that fast at that speed before in his life.2 when I hit her she squatted back so much transfering the weight that the 240 tire flattend out like a car tire and then the bike was gone!!!!!
So I would look at your suspention set up as it might be to stiff to allow the torque to shift the bikes weight. I would also looke at the possibility the the lower hp nd torque cannot squat the bike as much as ne with more power. he guy withthe 240 kit on his touring has no proble squating the bike a lifting the front end up at 100 mph.
I can do a burnout anytime I want on mine but I can also let her loose and keep the all the traction I need in a launch. Maybe your dumping the clutch wrong and making it smoke the tire when a little more feathering would allow it to hook up.

Just my opinion and I am not saying I am a expert nor trying to rile anyone up!

No, it's not a problem as such, I've only done it once, on purpose. I like speed, but hole shots are about the hardest thing there is on any vehicle, I tend to avoid them. Tires, clutches, and drive shafts are expensive. I've also come across an odd high speed weave at 130 mph that I'd like to track down first. I just don't know if the touring is stable enough for real high speeds, with the big windhield and bags.

I certainly haven't ruled it out, I have the cash in hand, (for the 3rd time, LOL, stuff kept coming up, LOL) I admit I'm torn between the Carpenter kit, a used Goldwing, and a s1000rr, pretty eclectic mix, I admit, but hey, I'm an eclectic kind of guy. I talked to a guy that test rode a s1000rr, and he didn't like it, so that's dropped a bit in priorities, but I'd like to try it myself. I've been compiling a list of questions for Bob Carpenter, I may call him this coming week.

Ps-It tracked straight and true burning out, no fishtail, that inspired some confidence, and it was on cold (40 F) pavement

I have a 200 rear on mine and I would love to have enough horsepower to worry about smoking it. I also have the weave you are talking about at high speed. I didn't have much of a problem with the tall windshield but I took about 3 inches off of it and developed the weave so it's got something to do with the shield I believe.
