I traded in a '03 Honda VTX for a '12 Victory Hammer 8 ball. After riding that ****** rocket for 2 years I realized that I missed having a touring motorcycle's wide comfy seat (A club ride over Memorial Day weekend just wore me out on the Vic, even with a better aftermarket seat on it).
After examining my budget and choices I chose a '14 R3 tour. In my opinion it's the best bang for my buck AND it already had almost all the add-ons I want to make long trips pleasant.
My dealer made a sweet trade because they couldn't get a new Hammer for their showroom.
I am waiting on a 2 pc. touring seat and rider backrest; the slow supply chain for parts on this bike does concern me in the event I experience a breakdown, but I'm still in the honeymoon phase with this ride so I can ignore it for now.
First thing I did was swap out the stock headlamps and driving lamps with Silverstar. Over the weekend I soldered on leads for a tender and wired in my GPS.
I like that the bike is now fitted for everything I want for a long haul.
