<micro rant>

I am getting ready for my trip to the UK. Just giving the flip-front Helmet I wanted to use a once over - polish visor etc - and found a tiny crack in the visor near the Pinlock mount. The inner visor too - which has me a bit confounded.

But that's not what this is about - we all know poo happens. I've applied loctite to the cracks (and capillary drew it in) - we'll see what happens - If no joy then I'll wear the non flip front. This is a PITA at immigration points but there it is. Immigration officers want to see your face to compare to the passport. That's why. It's simply more convenient with an open or flip front lid.

But here's the thing!. Buying a new outer visor and Pinlock will be about half the price of simply replacing the whole lid (which would include both visors). Now, this may just be me, but WTF?. OK it's NOT a "high end" lid but does score 5 stars in The SHARP tests.

It feels wasteful and wrong to simply chuck it. tbh I am tempted simply to run into Madrid and get a new one the same. But the timing stinks. There is a new flip front out (from the same mfr) that I want to see and nowhere has it in stock.

I am miffed.

<micro rant over>

Is the new lid in stock in the UK and are the prices any different? Is the new visor available here in the UK at a more sensible price? If so, buy here and be done with it! Part of the rip off services from almost any company as they make more from spares and replacement parts!

Cheaper here - I've looked - first thing I did.

One part of it (I think) - "A HELMET" is exempt VAT (this I know) - "Parts" I don't think are.

If it is older than 4/5 years cut it in half and buy a new one.
80% of a year is not that long is it. :p

I have a new one - just not a flip front new one. I always keep 2 lids in rotation changing one or t'other every couple of years.

And as @Joesmoe knows I plan to try on the new Caberg if I can find it. Then the old one could indeed go in the crusher at the tip.

Would think that a infamous pirate entering the country to plunder and pillage would be entering at the dead of night in a obscure cove along a quiet part of the coast.Not Presenting himself to the authorities and revealing his identity:whitstling:

It is just a ploy to beguile them into a sense of security. I need mummy's permission to let slip the dogs of war - Cry Havoc!.

So we will have to position look outs along the A29 to know if permission was granted.Telling them to look for a man riding a rocket flying a jolly roger swinging a cutlass wearing a eye patch from an injury sustained because of a cracked visor.Before we can say the gold and women are safe:D
