i have a 2007 rocket classic which i bought 3 months ago. It only had 1500 miles on the clock when I got it i have done a further 4000. I love it to bits but it developed a slight oil leak at the water pump shaft not long after i took possession. Yesterday I noticed another leak at the offside rear of the engine. It is difficukt to see where this one is originating. Could any one shed any light on similar problems and are these triumphs prone to this problem as the older models were

The leak on the engine may be a known head gasket recall.
Hard to see where it's coming from, just a drip at the bottom back of engine.
My leak was on the right side.
I had my 08 standard fixed under warranty.
You may be able to get her fixed free at the right dealer.

Welcome to the forum.

Is it possible its coming from the oil breather? Its not uncommon for them to push a few drops out now and again. Mine did it once or twice and it stopped.

If the leak at the back of the engine doesn't go away, and you cannot see where it comes from,
it is probably the head gasket.

Most of the head gaskets eaked on the rear left of the engine. Your is still the years they used cosmoline withthe low milage it might not all be off yet. On the head gasket look around the left rear head bolt at the seam where the gasket is. if its wet below the head and not above it is the head gasket. Does it or did some one buy a chrome cam cover for her> That could also be worht looking at if they did. Now for the water pump oil leak there is a O ring that seals tha you can check the O ring easy. start the bike up for about 30 to 45 seconds to pump oil out of the sump and back up the the tank. Jack her up and put jack stands under the peg rails in the front. The drain the radiator in a pan real quickly by loosening All three bolts a wee bit. Stick a screw driver in the water pump cover slot and crack her open to drain quicker. Pop the cover off leaving attached the the hose and take the pump out and inspect the O ring for damage I would order one just incase. to go back together make sure you line up the drive slot in the water pump shaft with the drive dog coming from the high pressure oil pump..

I'm not sure on Triumphs but on Harleys if the puddle is growing at less than 6 inches an hour, you don't even have to see where it's coming from !

Chas the oil brether is on the back of the engine behind the little infil panel on the right side of the engine. there is no filter persay as it runs into the air box up in the shallow ledge in the front of the box. Like I said in 06 and 07 they used cosmoline on the engines and it takes a wee bit to heat it all off the engine. With any luck this is what you are seeing.

Hi TeeDee I checked with the local Triumph dealer and he assures me after checking my vin number that my bike wasn`t on the re-call list. I have since tightened the 2 7mm bolts at the bottom rear right of the engine and so far it seems ok. thanks for your input
