Yes, I finally bought the tools and filter element and used my marine oil changer (5 gal bucket, w/12v pump, & sump line) to do my own (plus they always seemed to find something in addition to the oil change - Bast@rds!). But I digress, I dumped the Benz last year.
I did change my oil on the R3 just today: 5 1/2 gal of Mobil 4T Racing Synthentic ($70), $19.95 for Triumph Filter (I have the chrome cover) and Crush Washers (2 for the sump plugs and 1 for the main drain - which is a different size than the sumps) from the dealer. An 8mm Allen Socket on the end of Torque wrench (to 25nm) and about a 1/2 hour of my time and: Voila! I reused the crush washers last oil chance, thought it safer to replace them this time around. Easy to do - something to think about for next time.
