Gas miliage is what I had hoped for. 34 cuiusing at 80 t0 85 with the occaisional blip to 105 when needing to pass. Unless it was a Harley, then I'd downshift to 4th and hit 125 bofre letting up. Actually at high speed running the rocket does better on gas than Harley.
Cruising 55 the Harley will do better on gad but who cruises at 55?

My Rocket has developed a small problem with idle. It has died twice.

Once a couple weeks ago while cruising down the highway when I pulled in the clutch to coast to give my right wrist a rest from holdind the throttle. I let the clutch out to restart the engine and would rev fine but would not idle without me giving just a little throttle.

Second time was yesterday in city traffic. Pulled up to a stop light and no idle with out some throttle. After engine died, I restarted and all seemed fine.

Any thoughts or suggestions on what to check? TPS? Stepper motor?

No TPS is erratic high idle, in the 2,500-3,000 RPM range.
clean your crank angle sensor.
Cost? ZERO.
you'll see it under the bike.
one bolt holding it in.
try that and let us know.
skip
other than that, you like your bike ?
I realize it's red an all, but,,,,,,

When you pull up to a stop, does it usually idle real slow and then recover (or sometimes stall) ? If so I got the fix for ya .

Thanks xhdskip. I'll try to get to that this weekend. I assume I'll be cleaning a simple magnetic pick-up. Should have time to look for it tomorrow.

It either idles ok or it doesn't but for future knowledge I would still like to hear the cause and fix.

Mine would idle real slow and rough when I first pulled in the clutch, about 400-500 rpms. If it didn't stall, it would finally recover and go back to 800. What I found was due to worn linkage my throttle butterflies were going all the way shut, so it was choking to death waiting for the idle stepper motor to open them a little. There is a positive stop screw that can be adjusted in, just enough so they don't close all the way. Fixed the problem on mine.

Thanks for thr info. Just curious, how many milkes was that? My rocket is at about 9500 miles.
