Hi all, just bought a 2nd hand, Cardinal Red, Black Engine,( reged march 2007) with 2990miles on the clock. It still has 20 months warantee remaining.
I'm not sure if it is because it is the most i've spent on a bike orbecause it's the biggest bike i've had but i seem to feel a lot of "noise" through the foot pedals. It seems like it is transmission noise of some sort and also a high pitched whine around 30-34mph which could be wind but i don't think so.
I was told these beasties are clunky on the gears and can vouch for that one.
Also the engine ( maybe cause of the black coating?? ) runs bloody hot especially around town to the point i would be concerned in the summer.
Can anyone advise on these points and what things like running oil temp should be etc.
Any help appreciated and if there are any other owners on the South Coast near Portsmouth/Hampshire i would be happy to hear from them.

Best Rgds to all - Great Site.

There are few noises which seem to be the character of the bike , also with that mileage , the transmission will not have run in yet , mine did not start to get better till 4000 miles or so .

Mine gives off a lot of heat , almost unbearable in the heat , one of the prices you pay for such a big motor I guess .

I do not know if you are aware , but there is a uk rockets site , with rides etc

Yeah like Sully said it the gearbox does get better with mileage but it will still be a bit clunky, mines got 17,000 on it & it still can be a bit clunky but that is normal & it does get hot but the fans work well & at least you will never get frost bite in you toes in the winter

There are quite a few guys with rockets near you & as Sully said have a look at the UK Owners site for meets & run outs.

Take it easy & enjoy the beastie :)

Many thanks
