New Rotrex C38-91 Supercharger

bolts and bearings

Warp if you put in ONE fatter bearing it will still only have a load point of ONE contact patch about .005". If you put in TWO thinner bearings you will have TWO load points of about .005" but spaced apart maybe 1/2". You can see why this will make the end of that shaft more stable. As an example if one gets a bearing and fits it to a piece of rod, if the bearing is held and then wiggle the rod the end of the rod will move due to the running clearance in the bearing. Now put two bearings on the rod and try wiggling it. Heaps different. If your cover is the same as the last one I looked at there should be enough depth, the diameter is different with the little ball bearing. As an aside with the head bolts I am guessing the main reason they say to replace them it because the stupid TORX heads wear funny. I just had the experience of the torx failing on the head of one of my speed triple head bolts...... Ever try gettig off the head with one bolt stuck in. That sucks. Cheers Guys

Ok Nev as for the two bearing and spreading the load points out I totally agree with you and will also look at that even closer. I was just thinking of the style of roller bearing sealed yet still like a pin roller not ball so the contact surface of the bearing would also be longer say by at least 1/4 inch depending on how deep I can bore the cover 1/2 inch would be great yet the pins in the sealed bearing have a inner and outer race. I dont know if I am explaining the roller bearing I am seeing in my head enough so you know what I am talking about it is more like the pin roller Richard used on Russel's but with a inner race also. So let me search bearing and see if I can find a picture of one. I also would like to know if you seen the new style ball bearing Richard is using or not? But in order to get a seal in there it is not very big or strong looking to me.

A roller style is better for sure. I think the ball bearing I saw a week or two ago is the newest incarnation from TTS. It was a small ball bearing, fully sealed. I think two would fit as described above, but have not measured exactly. It was only about 6.5mm thick.

Yes two of them would definetly be better especially forme as I have been getting pretty close to pounding that 9000 rpm rev limiter. definetly see 8500 on the tach often in 3rd and fourth. Have to wat it a little going from second to third as the front end sometimes lifts two high for me then for some reason the rear slips and the bike kind of wonders sideways. Pucker me a little New head gasket is hear need to order a new Tee silicone hose so I can add the BLV without welding it on. Have to sort out the head bolt thing and find something stronger yet viable. Going to lower boost to 6 psi max but thinking of bringing it on quicker with another pulley change. But it might be better to just stick with letting it rise with the rpm so max is only at higher rpms. Your opinion on this would be apreciated? Have you messed with the new live tuning yet? I have everthing converted over so all I need is a compitent tuner. I think I might have one who is a tune boy distributoer about 500 miles away got to give him a call and see if he is versed on it yet.

I want to thank you for these post they have been a great help. You just can't imagine having a expert opinion or two to help me decide which path to go.
