Warp if you put in ONE fatter bearing it will still only have a load point of ONE contact patch about .005". If you put in TWO thinner bearings you will have TWO load points of about .005" but spaced apart maybe 1/2". You can see why this will make the end of that shaft more stable. As an example if one gets a bearing and fits it to a piece of rod, if the bearing is held and then wiggle the rod the end of the rod will move due to the running clearance in the bearing. Now put two bearings on the rod and try wiggling it. Heaps different. If your cover is the same as the last one I looked at there should be enough depth, the diameter is different with the little ball bearing. As an aside with the head bolts I am guessing the main reason they say to replace them it because the stupid TORX heads wear funny. I just had the experience of the torx failing on the head of one of my speed triple head bolts...... Ever try gettig off the head with one bolt stuck in. That sucks.
