After an extended period of meticulous development Rotrex can now offer our clients the granddaddy of the C38 range: The C38-91.

December 2010

Targeted specifically at those clients that want to enjoy the refinement and sheer acceleration of a Rotrex application but need that extra grunt and sheer power, the C38-91 features the best efficiency of the C38 range and flows 11% more than the C38-81, and a whopping 70% more than the C30-94.

Even at the very upper end of the power band, at a verified flow rate of 0.63 kg/s where no Rotrex has ever gone before, the measured efficiency of the Rotrex C38-91 is 65%, making sure your high power application will not unduly load your engine with thermal strain.

The C38-91, which shares the same basic drive dimensions and features a compressor housing only 8 mm longer (axial dimension) than that of the other members of the C38 family, serves up a peak (isentropic) efficiency above 75% and has a wide high efficiency island, guaranteeing forceful acceleration all through the engine rev range, as well as great gas mileage when you are not 'on the throttle'.
 
The C38 range is advertised as being for 3000cc to 6000cc.
The C30- 94 we have is capable of 400hp why change,on mine it produces a combined hp/torque of around 650, that is more than all but the best riders could use fully.
 
interesting very interesting!!!!!! I hope to see my Rotrex in action this spring at the Maxton Mile. Although I am toning the boost down a wee bit until I see how well I can control it. I thought you would be advertising the two speed compressor so one could have a good amount of boost off the line. Does you main site have new charts up yet on the C38-91?

One of the first Rotrex C38-91 blowers to reach the States is on it's way... to me.

Combined HP/TQ??? I'm surprised at you, Les... that's a meaningless number. That's like claiming your real estate is XXX combined acres/hectares.

It's not a question of engine cc size, it's a question of how much air do you need to flow to reach your desired HP level (TQ x RPM/5252). Take a look at RCC Turbos... they produce all the record holding Turbo Hayabusas. If you want 550HP you use a Garret GT-35R... if you want 650HP you use a Garret GT-40R. Retail on the C38-91 is $2595... that's for the blower alone. I'm doing the installation, tuning will be done at Cycle Solutions.

What will you need to install and run one on an R3? Well to mention just a few:

God, I love that wry Brit humor... of which Les is the master!

Yes, the things that must fabricated to run this blower on an R3 are legion, but that doesn't mean it's not worthwhile. Isn't it time for a Triumph to wrest at least one Land Speed Record from the Jap bikes? BTW, that's the only way into the 200 MPH Club... you must set a class record over 200 MPH to get your green shirt.

Here's how to shoehorn all that air flow smoothly into an R3:
 
Hombre obviously your Rocket is US owned & modifyed, with a slippery fairing/chopped tank it's probably not looking too much like a Triumph at the moment,
are you going with a US/UK paint scheme to let the oriental guys know who
just whopped their ars*s?
 
If I'm lucky enough to bump Walt Kudron's record, it will be by a very slim margin. My bike is known on the LSR forum as the only current triple build, so even with a fairing, they know my number and can count headers.

Let me say this about the ECTA and the LSR riders I've met...

There are exactly 4 guys holding all the records in the 3000cc Non-Pushrod class, and I know each of them. In fact, Walt Kudron is one of the inspectors on my bike. They have no interest in Jap/Brit bike rivalry, there is no "ass kicking", only enthusiasm to further Land Speed Racing. Each of them has reached out to help me in some way, and enjoy watching a different challenge take place. There is naught but chivalry, courage, and respect demonstrated by these guys, and I'm privileged to know them.
 

This is cool and a credit to you all. Such reciprocity is what these efforts should always be about. Well done and good luck on pressing the margin! I only hope to supercharge my R3 in like fashion when finances again permit.
