Been browsing craigslist for motorcycles and ran across an ad last month in Santa Cruz, for a 2005 Rocket III with 24k miles ($6500). Looked interesting, so I took a test ride and bought it on the spot, even though it didn't seem to handle very well. (I figuered it was me not knowing how to handle such a beast). Drove it 30 miles home and it seemed OK on the freeway. Checked the tire pressure the next day and found both tires had less than 10lbs! Pumped em up to specs and took a short ride around the niegborhood. Wow, it handled like a dream :>)!
So I sold my Yamaha Vstar 1100 Silverado and started looking for bags, an aftermarket seat and a windshield for the Rocket (Corbin factory in Hollister is about 20 miles away) and the prices were high. Saw another local guy selling a 2005 with 11k miles for $8995 with $7000 in add ons (most of what I wanted), offered $8300 cash and now I have two. Put number one up for sale and had a few bits, so will see how it goes.
The second one seems to shift a little harder and makes more noise with the aftermarket exhaust, but I like the handle bar risers, the corbin seat and the triumph saddlebags. I replaced the Triumph windscreen with smoked one (as opposed to clear) from WindVest (Made nearby in Morgan Hill). It seems to work as good and looks real nice.
The center stand is probably coming off and going up for sale, along with the windscreen and the fly screen. Still thinking about wether to put the original pipes back on. Wish there was a switch to flip from noisy to quiet when needed.
