My dealership's service manager returned from the mid-winter Triumph USA dealer convocation in AZ this winter and told me that Triumph no longer recommends the 10-40 weight oil for the R3!
I don't recall what he said is the preferred weight, but I'm wondering if anyone else has heard similarly?
That's kind of like your doctor saying, "We know you've always been a Type-A Positive blood type, but we think we'll now give you a Type B negative transfusion, because that's what we like to carry in the fridge these days. You know, better kickbacks and all."
I remember talk in another thread about a switch to Castrol for reasons of price, but not a change in recommended viscosity.
My dealer's service mgr said they (Triumph USA) are now specifying a viscosity other than 10-40 (what I am currently using). I'll speak with him when he's back in the shop next Tuesday and see what he has to say...:Tip-Hat:

I get mine at $8.50/liter from a local oil change shop carrying mobil lube products. He'd never heard of it before and kind of guessed at the price I should pay. My guess is that the next time I need some, his price will be closer to the big city boys at the stealership.
